Cities and Town
Zurich
A "metropolis of experiences" by the water, with a magnificent view of the snowcapped Alps on the horizon, Zürich offers a unique mixture of attractions – museums, art galleries, international fashion labels and Zürich designs, and the most flamboyant and lively nightlife in Switzerland. Recreational activities range from a visit to the riverside and lakeside bathing areas in the very heart of the city, to a spectacular hike on the mountains.
Geneva
Embedded between nearby Alpine peaks and the hilly terrain of the Jura, the French-speaking city of Geneva lies in the bay where the Rhone leaves Lake Geneva. With its humanitarian tradition and cosmopolitan flair, the European seat of the UNO and headquarters of the Red Cross is known as the "capital of peace".
Basel
Tradition-conscious, open-minded and full of contrasts, Basel is regarded as one of Switzerland's centres for art, music and architecture. Thanks to its central location at the 'three-countries-corner' where Switzerland, Germany and France meet, the city on the elbow of the Rhine is also an important centre of fairs and congresses. The large market square with its richly decorated red sandstone town hall and the late Romanesque-Gothic cathedral are the landmarks of the city.
Interlaken
Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland between Lakes Thun and Brienz and at the feet of the three famous peaks Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is a holiday and conference resort of international importance, and an ideal starting point for countless excursions to the region’s top destinations, such as the Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn and Schynige Platte.
Bern
Berne is the capital of Switzerland, a diverse and beautiful city! Berne is a medieval city on and around the River Aare. Berne has quite a few attractions and historic sites, as well as an active cultural life. It is here that Albert Einstein worked, the Toblerone chocolate bar is made, and Emmental cheese, known as Swiss Cheese, reached out to the world.
Lucerne
Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland, sited on Lake Lucerne, is embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenir and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby excursion mountains of the Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn, the town is a destination for many travel groups and individuals on their journey through central Switzerland.
Engelberg
Engelberg offers an action-packed summer and winter programme while also offering every opportunity for relaxation. The ‘Mountain of Angels’ as the founders of the Benedictine monastery located in the heart of Central Switzerland. The Titlis at an altitude of 3020 metres above sea level and its glacier park are accessible by revolving rotair cableway.
Schafhaussen
Over the mediaeval Old Town of Schaffhausen looms the imposing Munot fortress. The houses of the Old Town are richly decorated with oriel windows and lavishly painted facades. The town, located on the Upper Rhine between the Black Forest and Lake Constance, and surrounded by vineyards, is a popular destination for holidays and day-trips.
Gruyeres
The Gruyère region, with its rolling green landscape and fine peaks, dominated by the picture-book little town of Gruyères, is the home of the world-famous Gruyère cheese. There is lots to do in this idyllic landscape: in the summer, hiking and biking, while in winter skiers can enjoy the largest skiing area in the Fribourg region, on the Moléson.
Lausanne
"The Onlypic City" In a country of spectacular natural beauty it is the most beautiful of cities, Switzerland’s San Francisco, a city of incredibly steep hills that has developed tiered above the lake on a succession of compact terraces. Vistas of blue water, glittering sunlight and the purple and grey of the looming, white capped Savoy Alps peep through between gaps in buildings or at the ends of steeply dropping alleys.
Zermatt
The Valais-resort of Zermatt in the Matt valley is one of Switzerland’s most famous holiday resorts and a centre of attraction for many international guests. In spite of its high profile, Zermatt retains the charm of a Swiss mountain village. Electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs and sledges are the principal means of transportation in this car-free town.
St Moritz
St. Moritz is one of the best-known holiday resorts in the world. Chic, elegant and exclusive, with an extremely cosmopolitan air, the resort is located at an altitude of 1856 metres above sea level and surrounded by the beautiful lake landscape of the Upper Engadine. In St. Moritz the sun shines 322 days a year. But even more legendary than that is St. Moritz's "champagne climate": sparkle and glamour, and international events attract top athletes, stars, statesmen and royal families to the health resort. And hotels, the gastronomy, shopping and leisure facilities in this top Upper Engadine resort are accordingly exclusive.
Montreux
The town of Montreux nestles in a sheltered Lake Geneva bay, surrounded by vineyards and against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-covered Alps. The Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place in June/July and features concerts on a variety of stages and parks is very famous.
Lugano
The largest town in the holiday region of Ticino, is not only Switzerland's third most important financial centre and a conference, banking and business centre, but also a town of parks and flowers, villas and sacred buildings. With Mediterranean flair, Lugano offers all the advantages of a world-class city, combined with the cachet of a small town.
Davos
In Grisons is a place of superlatives: this holiday destination with international ambience is the largest resort in the Alps for mountain holidays, sport and conferences, at 1560 m the highest town in the Alps and a high-altitude health resort with a long tradition. The valley is renowned above all as a conference centre, and also as a major winter sports centre with an international flavour and a huge range of activities. Its showpiece is its modern Conference Centre, which hosts the World Economic Forum WEF (nearly) every year. In the centre of Davos, visitors will find a wide range of accommodation and excellent shopping, with numerous boutiques, cafés and restaurants. At night, too, there’s plenty of entertainment, with bars, discos and a casino.
Appenzell
lies in a picturesque, hilly landscape to the south of Lake Constance. Rambling and climbing on the Alpstein and the region’s independent culture, fashioned by long-held rural customs and religious traditions, are the highlights. Appenzell is the political, economic and cultural hub of the smallest of the Swiss cantons. The smart alleyways with their numerous small shops in the car-free eastern-sector invite passers-by to stroll and enjoy leisurely shopping outings. Houses adorned with many murals are a characteristic of the region. The Appenzell Museum in the town hall and the «Im Blauen Haus» [In the blue house] private museum exhibit a cross-section of local history and culture.
Lake Constance
Lake Constance - The Lake Constance - is located between Germany,  Austria and Switzerland. On the Swiss side are the famous Rhine falls, best reached from Schaffhausen. The lake area has one of the warmest summer microclimates in the country. There are many outdoor activities that one can do including water sports sailing and hiking. There are many beautiful resort towns along its shores notably Meersburg which is surrounded by vineyards and which has half-timbered houses and the oldest castle in Germany. There is ferry service across the lake from Friedrichshafeninto Switzerlland.

It is on Schilthorn that the James Bond 007 movie 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' was filmed in late 1960's..
Trummelbach Falls - are unique, in that seven of its 10 cascades are inside a mountain. A lift takes you up inside the mountain, and you start climbing up to the cascades. The tunnels and stairs that lead to the cascades are dimly lit and damp, with water dripping everywhere. Add the deafening roar of water and the constant vibration in the rock and it can be downright spooky.
Bernina Express *** nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel on the Bernina, the highest and steepest train crossing the Alpine delight in Graubünden. There is twice as much to see as before along one of the most beautiful railway routes in the world. Glacier Express - The slowest fast express train in the World - The Glacier Express travels on the famous Swiss mountain railways from St.Moritz to Zermatt and vice versa or from Piz Bernina to the Matterhorn. A 7½ hour panoramic railway journeying a beautiful route between the sights of the Graubünden holiday region, central Switzerland, including Lake Lucerne and Lucerne itself, the sunny Valais region with its glacier landscape, and the beautiful regions of the South. The Glacier Express - Glistening mountains in Summer, fairytale landscapes deep in snow in Winter, magical carpets of flowers in the Spring and a splendid tapestry of colours in Autumn.
Golden Pass Line - This panoramic train covers the route from Montreaux to Lucerne in about 5hrs. The train highlights Switzerland on a track of more than 240 km (149 miles) from the shores of Lake Lucerne through Interlaken down to the Montreux area or the 'Swiss Riviera' on Lake Geneva. It is basically categorized into 3 separate routes. The world's first panoramic train was put into service between Montreux and Zweisimmen. It remains the only line in Switzerland offering VIP seating at the front of the train giving a driver's eye view. These ultra-modern trains are able to give the traveler the unique sensation of being totally at one with the grandeur of the unfolding landscape
Gonergrat - At the Gornergrat, discover a natural alpine paradise, amid aromatic stone pine and larch forests. Across vastalpine meadows in summer full of flowers, and in winter covered with deeply snow-capped glaciers, lies the famous Gornergrat. Giving all a perfect view of the highest point in Switzerland, The Dufour-Spitze, this idyllic mountain village is one of the biggest resorts in Switzerland.
Matterhorn - The Matterhorn is Switzerland's most famous landmark, the most beautiful mountain in the world and considered by many true mountaineers to be the peak of all peaks. Each year hordes of climbers from all corners of the globe attempt to scale the Matterhorn - a genuine challenge. Anyone who manages to scale the Matterhorn has good reason to be proud of him or her. Zermatt congratulates the conquerors on this mountaineering achievement. All those who make it to the top will in future be able to inscribe their name on a small plaque in the new Matterhorn museum and join the "Matterhorn climbers' club".
Swiss Miniatur - Swissminiatur was opened in 1959. Almost like on scenery, a mountain symbolizes the Alps as well as the foothills of the Alps, the lakes, according to one's imagination, may be Lake Leman or the Lake of Constance, a river may be the Rhine as well as the Rhone. Inside one will find more than 120 models representing the patrician houses, the castles, the cathedrals and other buildings of Switzerland. For the fans of the railways-models there are more than 3500 m of rails with no less than 18 trains, funiculars, rack railways, cable cars and boats in motion. All the models of exhibition are built on the scale of 1:25.
William Tell Express - The Wilhelm Tell Express connects two of the prettiest parts of Switzerland: Central Switzerland and the Italianate Ticino. It combines both train travel with a paddle steamer cruise on Lake Lucerne.
Glacier 3000 - You must see it to believe it; the Sommerziel glacier, doesn't leave you cold. Traveling comfortably in the shortest possible time from the shores of Lake Geneva, known for their mild climate, up into the glacial world of the High Alps. Green below - white at the top. Hot below - cool at the top. What a fascinating world, in the middle of summer!
